An education reform program in Mauritania emphasized getting more girls into school through awareness campaigns, school improvements, and teacher training.
What went wrong?

Clearly these initiatives are not helping the most impoverished rural schools. Another military coup, a government racked by division, and spiralling accusations of corruption at all levels has taken its toll on all sectors of society, including the education system.
